Imran Khan again chanted China raga, said - America has always used
Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan has once again struck a chord with China. Imran has said that the US has always used Pakistan to fulfill its strategic goals and when the objective was accomplished, it imposed sanctions on the country while 'friend' China has stood the test of time.
The News International newspaper reported on Friday that
Pakistan's Wazir-e-Azam Imran Khan made the remarks during a recent interview
with Eric Lee, director of the advisory committee of the 'China Institute of Fudan
University'. Responding to a question, Khan said his country has had friendly
relations with the US at times. However, when America feels that it no longer
needs Pakistan, it distances itself from it.
Citing the example of Pak-US relations, he referred to the
erstwhile Soviet Union deploying its troops to war-torn Afghanistan in the 80s,
saying, "Whenever the US needed us, they established relations, and
Pakistan (Soviet). against) became a leading state, and then abandoned it and
imposed sanctions on us."
According to interview excerpts given during his recent
visit to China from February 3 to 6 to attend the opening ceremony of Beijing's
Winter Olympics, Prime Minister Khan said that friendly relations between the
US and Pakistan were subsequently restored and Islamabad Became a friend of
Washington.
Khan said that America helped us at that time, but as soon
as the Soviet Union left Afghanistan, America imposed sanctions on Pakistan. He
said that when the 9/11 terror attacks happened, US-Pakistan relations got
better again. However, when the US failed in Afghanistan, Pakistan was blamed
for the defeat.
